Connect your ACTIVE key
Camp Notice refills canceled spots by reading your roster in ACTIVE’s Camp & Class Manager. To read it, it needs a small read-only credential from ACTIVE called an API key (ACTIVE’s own paperwork calls it a security token, or “appToken” — same thing).
Getting one is a single support ticket. This is a five-minute read written for camp directors, not developers: if you can email ACTIVE support, you can do this.
- Read-only — The key lets Camp Notice see your session list, enrollment counts, and waitlists. It can never edit anything, take payments, see card numbers, or use your ACTIVE password.
How to request your ACTIVE Network API key
- Let us write the ticket — Create your free Camp Notice account. The setup guide asks for your camp’s name, then writes the API request for you, addressed to ACTIVE in their language. One click copies it — about two minutes, nothing technical to fill in.
- Send it to ACTIVE — Send the pre-written request to your ACTIVE account manager, by email to activeworkscampssupport@activenetwork.com, or through ACTIVE’s Camp & Class Manager support portal (Contact Us → Camp & Class Manager → Account Settings).
- Paste the key when it arrives — ACTIVE usually replies in 2–3 business days with your security token. In Camp Notice open Settings → ACTIVE Network connection, type your Organization Name exactly as ACTIVE shows it, paste the token, and press Connect ACTIVE. Your sessions and waitlists import on their own and re-sync every 3 minutes.
Frequently asked questions
What will ACTIVE ask us?
Usually nothing beyond what the pre-written ticket already covers: your organization name and that you’d like read-only API access (a security token) so a reporting integration can read sessions, registrations, and waitlists. If they ask which vendor, the answer is Camp Notice.
Does the key cost anything?
There’s never a fee from Camp Notice for connecting. API access is part of the Camp & Class Manager platform rather than a separate product — but pricing is ACTIVE’s call, so if you want certainty, ask in the same ticket.
Is it safe to have the key in an email?
Treat it like a spare key to one filing cabinet: use it, then tidy up. Paste it into Camp Notice — it’s stored encrypted and never shown on screen again — and delete ACTIVE’s email if you like. If a key is ever exposed, one support ticket to ACTIVE cancels it and issues a fresh one.
What’s our “organization name”, exactly?
It’s your camp’s name the way ACTIVE writes it — you’ll see it in the web address when you’re logged into Camp & Class Manager, and at the top of your account. In Camp Notice it must match exactly — same spelling, spaces, and punctuation.
We already use ACTIVE’s waitlist emails — do we turn those off?
Run one system at a time. ACTIVE’s built-in waitlist automation emails the first family and waits. Camp Notice texts and emails, moves family-by-family down the list, and holds the seat the moment someone taps claim. Most camps let Camp Notice take over and ask ACTIVE support to switch their email automation off.
We’re a multi-site organization — one key or several?
Each site (ACTIVE calls it an “agency”) has its own organization name and its own key, so it’s one short ticket per site. The Multi Site plan connects all of them under one Camp Notice account.
How long until spots start refilling themselves?
The ticket takes ~2 minutes. ACTIVE typically replies in 2–3 business days. Pasting the key takes seconds, your roster imports within minutes, and offers start going out the moment you review your sessions and flip automation on. Realistically: this week.
